C.L. South Completes Follow-up to 2006 National Outstanding Service Project Award
This year marked the fourth year that funds were raised at the school to benefit Heifer International. The money will be used to purchase livestock for impoverished families and villages throughout the world. This will be the fourth year that funds have been raised at the school to benefit Heifer International, and the second year that the school's National Honor Society chapter is sponsoring the project. The school raised nearly $9,000 in the first three years of the program, and provided students with a concrete example of how they can contribute to the world.
On November 4, 2006, the National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society recognized the school's 2005 effort with the NHS & NJHS Outstanding Service Project Award. The award was presented at the NHS & NJHS National Conference in Orlando, Fla. The organization presented 10 awards to schools across the nation. Four Illinois high schools including Crystal Lake South High School, Marian Central Catholic High School (Woodstock), Adlai E. Stevenson High School (Lincolnshire), and Massac County High School (Metropolis) were honored along with schools from California, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, and Texas.
